The Evidence

At Sequoia Energy we know we can build a healthier world with wind and other renewable energies.

While these energy sources will not be the answer for every challenge we face, they WILL make a significant difference at a time when every sustainable and renewable contribution helps reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and reduces carbon emissions.

At Sequoia Energy Inc. we’ve seen firsthand how renewable energy can make a difference in a community. Our first venture into wind energy led to the development of a 99-megawatt wind farm in 2002 in St. Leon, Manitoba - at the time, the largest wind farm in Canada.

The erection of 63 wind turbines – enough to meet the energy demands of 35,000 homes - meant that 51 farming families over 7,300 hectares (18,000 acres) saw a new and regular cash injection into the family farm income, expected to reach $10 million (Cdn) over 25 years. Jobs were created during the wind farm construction and 15 new jobs, in a community of 120, remained to manage the ongoing operations of the wind farm.

The two local municipalities the wind farm straddles will see $20 million in increased property tax revenues over 25 years. And local businesses benefited from increased traffic as the wind farm became a tourist attraction.

Repeating these successes in communities through Canada and the Mid-Western United States is the Sequoia Energy commitment.
