Quottoon Region of Hydroelectric Projects

 

The Quottoon Region of run-of-river hydroelectric projects consists of 7 potential projects located on separate creeks or rivers. Each project would interconnect to a transmission line built to tie into the BC Hydro grid near Prince Rupert.

 

Size:

Estimated 53.6 MW

 

Location:

Located approximately 25 km north of Prince Rupert, BC, the projects are situated on Toon River, Toon River Tributary North, McShane Creek, Lachmach River, Marion Creek, , Quottoon Inlet Tributary, and Toon Middle North Tributary which either flow into the Quottoon Inlet or the Work Channel.

 

Host First Nations:

Lax Kw'alaams and Metlakatla (and any other regional First Nations as may be required)

 

Current Status:

Hydrologic assessments, environmental assessments, and preliminary engineering are underway.
